Feline Friendly Practitioners

Berkeley Veterinary Center is a Cat Friendly Practice

Berkeley Veterinary Center has been certified by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) as a Cat Friendly Practice. To keep our certification, we go through periodic evaluations to ensure we are up to date on the newest protocols!

CFP Gold

We've gone for the gold! We strive to practice the best feline medicine possible and we have achieved that through reaching the Gold Standard Cat Friendly Practice Certification. The certified Cat Friendly Practice through the American Association of Feline Practitioners recognizes two levels of cat-friendly excellence: silver and gold. We have invested the extra time and training and updated our facility to reach the highest level of certification.

We joined this program because we love cats and understand they are unique and we want to learn as much as we can about them. We know they hide disease so are often quite ill before they let their caretakers know anything is wrong. We also understand they often get stressed on the way to, and at, the veterinary practice.

The Cat Friendly Practice ® program is a global initiative designed to elevate care for cats by reducing stress and making visits easier for cats and caregivers. The entire staff is educated and knowledgeable about your cats’ distinct needs and behaviors.

Cat Friendly Practices ® must also meet specific criteria within their practice to earn this designation, which includes providing a waiting space for cats that is separate from other animals and implementing best practices to reduce stress throughout the visit (exam room, physical exam, pain management, operating and anesthesia, dentistry, diagnostic imaging, and more).

When you visit our Cat Friendly Practice ® you can expect the veterinary team to:

  • Understand the unique needs and behaviors of cats.
  • Have a feline-friendly environment and make veterinary visits more cat-friendly.
  • Understand how to approach and handle cats in a gentle, empathetic, and caring manner.
  • Have the appropriate equipment and facilities needed to diagnose and treat feline patients.
  • Meet specific standards for the facility and care of hospitalized cats.

The AAFP and Cat Friendly Practice offer you many excellent resources about veterinary care and diseases unique to cats and about caring for your healthy cat and meeting their special needs.

We can’t wait to meet you and your special cat! Call us today at (732) 269-3600.
